As an actor on Eastenders, I often get up at 3am and travel to London where filming sometimes does not finish until 8pm. It is hard work but I can now do it with a smile thanks to my training with Simon (I do the turbo-training sessions with Simon anywhere between two to five times a week depending on my filming schedule). I have never felt so well, it’s like I am getting my life back. I have lost 13 lbs of fat and am getting into jeans that I have not had on for 4 years, training has transformed my life. It would be no good for me going to a normal gym as I would be looking around, drinking water and wondering what to do next. Simon plans everything so that all I have to do is turn up, do what he tells me to do and get fitter!! I have so much more energy for EVERYTHING.

Having just trekked to Mount Everest Base Camp I have made some discoveries about the benefits of training with Simon before my expedition, in order to prepare for such a big physical challenge. During my trek, when my heart was pounding and my lungs felt like bursting it felt normal! I was not perturbed by it and was able to concentrate on the activity rather than worrying that I was over-doing it or going to have a heart attack!! I found I had greater mobility than some of the younger ones and when I felt I couldn’t keep climbing for one more second, I took a deep breath and was able to carry on. This was something I had learned in my training sessions with Simon. I can honestly say that I don’t think I would have been able to achieve what I have done, if I had not trained with Simon beforehand.

When I first decided to get a Personal Trainer, I found the National Register on the internet and was surprised to find one listed in my area - Simon. I then checked his website and decided he had a kind face! I didn't want some lycra-clad military type who was going to continually shout and make me feel inadequate. I called Simon and had a chat. Having decided from the phone call that he also had a kind voice, I took the plunge and went for it! Two years later and I'm still going to Simon twice a week. "Mary and I are in our mid 50s and we have been in retailing all our lives. Although I don't suffer from any illnesses, Mary had a heart attack about five years ago and developed diabetes. I have been training with Simon for over 2 years meeting once & sometimes twice weekly. I was out of shape after the birth of my children and had not done any exercise for a few years. I had been a member of a gym before but, like lots of other people, lost motivation to go. The program I had been set by the gym staff was dull and it certainly didn’t change my weight. Training with Simon is different – he is very approachable and explains why you do certain exercises so it makes sense and is interesting. Just booking a time every week to do exercise is motivating in itself, but he also makes sure every session is different and never ever boring! He is very good at assessing your current fitness level (or lack of one in my case!) and creating a program that is actually do-able but just challenging enough. Despite my moaning (which he puts up with with remarkably good humour) my fitness has improved dramatically.

One thing I really found useful was a regular body composition analysis. For the first few months my overall weight didn’t alter much but I was able to see that I was losing body fat whilst gaining muscle. My body fat went from 33% down to 25% which I was thrilled with and I feel pretty confident now.

During the 2 years I reached a long held goal of running a half marathon, completing The Great North Run in 2007. Simon was great at helping me with months of training – talking me on long runs and interval runs – they were not always my idea of heaven but helped me run the entire event – not walking once!

What I really enjoy is knowing that when I arrive I just need an hour of my time to really make a difference to my body and fitness rather than just pottering around the gym on my own for 2 hours!

I am an 83 year old man, living in North Wales and visiting my family back in East Yorkshire. I was doing some very simple exercises to try and release some of my increasingly stiffened joints. My daughter was then telling me of the benefits she has had to her mobility through Simon’s training after her heart attack and contracting diabetes over the last couple of years. So I made an appointment to discus my problems with Simon and he kindly showed me some worthwhile exercises to keep me fit and improve my mobility, and worked out a program to take home with me. I took the opportunity to see him once more before I left. Although it was an effort at the time, I felt invigorated and much more mobile after just one session! I will certainly make another appointment again whenever I visit my family in East Yorkshire. I always thought Personal Trainers were for young fit people but now realize the benefit anyone can get from professional advice and training – even those of advancing age like me.

Twelve months ago when I decided to take a career break one of my priorities was to look after myself better than I had in the past. Like many people I blamed my busy routine for not paying more attention to my health and fitness. Also like many people I had joined a gym but never went and bought lots of exercise equipment but never used it.

Dear Simon,
Seven or eight years ago I stopped playing rugby. Ever since the combined effects of a working life behind a desk coupled with the occasional bout of corporate hospitality have taken a steady toll on my aching back and expanding waistline.

I have made numerous New Yearīs resolutions to do something about it, but they have quickly fallen by the wayside. Now, however, by making the commitment to train with you each week, I finally feel that I am making progress. Sure I could have joined a gym, but if no-one minds whether I turn up or not, itīs all too easy not to go.

By training with you I find myself not only benefiting from the sessions themselves, but also conscious of what I eat and how I exercise during the rest of the week. That's not to say that Iīve become a tea-total vegan, but that you've helped me achieve a happier and healthier medium.

Dear Simon,
I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you so much for theway you have reshaped my life. I can't believe that in the few short weeks since I first sought your help to get me into shape for my daughterīs wedding you have truly helped to transform me and I will be proud to stand next to Catherine and give her away feeling and looking much slimmer, fitter and more confident than I would had I tried to do it on my own and without your help, encouragement and skills.

My goal was to lose weight and tone up so that I could choose a nice outfit to wear at the wedding and feel happy in it. Simon provides targeted training aimed at achieving personal goals. He wrote me a tailor-made programme that took into account the fact that I get back pain. He also helped me to improve my weight-training technique which helped to correct a shoulder-complaint I had been suffering from that had previously put me off exercising. I really enjoy the training sessions and it has been brilliant to see the improvement in my strength and fitness. My body fat dropped from 27% to 15% in just 4 weeks with Simonīs intensive 1 month toning program! My whole body is a different shape now - Iīm leaner, stronger, more defined and feel much fitter.

As a second year student at Hull University I used to have quite an unhealthy lifestyle. I was sleeping a lot and feeling very lethargic and generally unhappy. I was also struggling to find the motivation to do my university work as I was depressed about my weight and this was impacting on all areas of my life.

However, then I discovered personal training with Simon! Wow, what a difference! My body fat has reduced by 10% in 3 months. Everyone has noticed the difference in the way I look, even my landlord. I cannot begin to describe how training with Simon has changed my life. Now I am really motivated. I feel so much better in myself - fitter, slimmer and stronger. I have got myself a part-time job, I get up early most days and have so much more energy. There have also been some unexpected health benefits. I had some scarring on my knee from an operation I had when I was younger. I told my specialist that I was training with a Personal Trainer and he said that was a good idea as a trainer would know which muscles to work to help the knee. The pain in my knees has started to lessen during the time I have been training, so I decided to go back and see my specialist. He took an MRI scan and phoned me yesterday with the results. He said the progress is fantastic and the scarring is almost completely gone. He said to carry on with the training and ‘keep doing whatever you have been doing.’ I was so pleased as I had been really worried about having to have replacement knees!
